How Fix YouTube Step 2 Monetization Error | Get Adsense Approved in 2023

This video walks you through our experience in 2023 of how to fix error in YouTube Monetization step 2 application process. You get a YouTube Adsense step 2 error when Google disapproves your Adsense account for YouTube monetization. YouTube lets you fix error in monetization in AdSense. You can resubmit your Google Adsense account for approval again.

The typical error message in Google says that you need to fix some issues before you can use Adsense for YouTube. In our case, we did not have any duplicate personal accounts as it happens with many YouTubers. To solve the rejection issue due to a duplicate account, close your Adsense account under the same name. Have one Adsense account under your name. Associate this account with your YouTube channel.

In our case, we had an individual Adsense account. This account was successfully associated with our YouTube channel. Then, we decided to open a separate business account. Both business and individual Adsense accounts used the same first and last names for a contact person.

However, the business Adsense account was under our business company’s name. Yet, we still got a step 2 error during our YouTube monetization application.

As it stands now, you cannot get in touch with Google Adsense by chat, phone or message. Google Adsense only gives you the option of asking the community for help. This is obviously not the same as talking to Google directly. The only way to get in touch with Google Adsense is through YouTube chat support.

We closed our individual account and tried to resubmit the request to associate our business Adsense account later. Yet, we got a step 2 error message again. The final solution was to ask YouTube chat support for help. YouTube got in touch with Google Adsense on our behalf. Our problem was solved 3 weeks later.

Possible solutions for a YouTube step 2 error message are:
(1) Close all duplicate Adsense accounts and wait 2-3 weeks for your accounts to truly close on Google’s end
(2) Make sure to fill out all necessary information in your Adsense account (tax forms)
(3) Get in touch with YouTube chat support, if you can
(4) Ask someone to get in touch with YouTube chat support on your channel’s behalf. You will need to add someone as a manager, who has access to YouTube chat support. This person must have a monetized YouTube channel.
(5) Use a different name for a contact person on your business Google Adsense account

Keep in mind, waiting for your problem to get solved results in foregone YouTube ad revenue.

Hope this video helped you plan your YouTube monetization. If you are pondering over opening a business Adsense account for YouTube, the time could be now.

0 -> In this video I will talk about our  experience of getting step 2 error
4.68 -> on YouTube. This error typically happens when  you try to connect Adsense account to YouTube
10.8 -> for monetization. I will also give advice  on what to do and how to fix this problem.
16.5 -> The step two error message looks like this. It  will say that your associated Adsense account
22.26 -> was disapproved. The Adsense lets you solve  issues to comply with program policies. Later,
27.78 -> you can resubmit your request again. Yet, if you  look around Adsense policies, they are applicable
33.78 -> to websites for the most part. There is very  little information about YouTube monetization.
39.12 -> The background for our situation is this. You  can create two types of accounts for Adsense:
45.3 -> business and individual. In our case, I created an  individual Adsense account under my personal name
51.66 -> and then connected it to our YouTube channel. We  had no issues whatsoever because it was my first
57.42 -> Adsense account. If you look around you’ll see  that many YouTubers experience step 2 error. The
64.14 -> typical reason for this is having a duplicate  account on Adsense. You need to delete that
69.6 -> old Adsense account first before associating the  new Adsense account to your YouTube. Otherwise,
76.5 -> if you do not delete the old Adsense account,  Google will see it as a duplicate attempt and
82.92 -> will throw this step 2 error message at you. Yet, this is where things got different for us.
89.04 -> Shortly, we decided to have a business  company for all our YouTube businesses.
94.32 -> So, I created a separate business Adsense  account for YouTube monetization purposes.
99.72 -> When you create a business Adsense account, you  must list organization name and the name of the
105.84 -> contact person for the company. In our case,  I listed my name under the contact person,
111.36 -> which was the same name as under my individual  Adsense account. Next, I disconnected my
118.08 -> individual Adsense account from YouTube.  Then, I submitted a request to connect our
123.3 -> business Adsense account to our YouTube channel. About several days later we got a rejection. A
130.2 -> generic email from Google said that there  could be many reasons. But one of them was
135.96 -> a duplicate account for Adsense. However, why  would Google think that our individual and
142.38 -> business accounts are duplicates? Yes, I listed my  name under both individual and business accounts.
149.04 -> However, the business account was under the  organization name, not my personal name. I
154.8 -> was only listed as a contact person. This could  have triggered this rejection reason for us.
159.78 -> Thinking that this is the issue, I closed my  individual Adsense account. I later resubmitted
166.56 -> my request to connect business Adsense account  to our YouTube channel. About 5 days later,
172.68 -> we got a rejection again! But this time,  I had no clue what is going on. Luckily,
179.28 -> we were part of the YouTube partner program and  we had access to the chat support at that time.
185.22 -> As you may know, there is no way to get in touch  with Google Adsense now. There is no chat, phone
191.34 -> number, email or anything else for that matter.  It seems that the only way to solve issues with
197.28 -> Adsense is through YouTube Partners chat support.  That was the biggest surprise for me, given the
202.32 -> size of Google. You would think that Adsense will  have some way to get in touch with them, but no.
207.9 -> After I contacted YouTube through their chat  support, they created the ticket for us.
213.78 -> This ticket was later redirected  to Adsense internal team.
218.64 -> It took them over 3 weeks to solve our problem  and get back to us. Actually, they did not get
225 -> back to us. I noticed that our business Adsense  account after 3 weeks got connected to our YouTube
232.44 -> channel and monetization was resumed. I tried to  ask them what seemed to be the problem. However,
239.22 -> they responded that the Adsense internal team took  care of that problem for us and YouTube does not
246.42 -> know what the problem was in the first place. There are several lessons to draw from here.
251.76 -> First, make sure there are no duplicate  Adsense accounts exist. If they exist,
257.58 -> delete them first before connecting anything  else. But as you can see, deleting your old
262.86 -> account does not necessarily solve the problem. My  only explanation is that there needs to be time,
269.52 -> at least several weeks, to pass for Google to  close your Adsense account. If we waited two
275.88 -> or more weeks before connecting our business  account, the issue may not have been there.
280.92 -> However, I cannot confirm this information. Second, if you got that step 2 error message,
286.56 -> your only option may be to contact YouTube chat  support. If you do not have access to that chat,
293.64 -> you may be out of options. I saw other YouTubers  doing risky things to solve this problem. This
300.36 -> involved transferring ownership of their  YouTube ownership to someone with access
304.5 -> to YouTube chat support. It could be a person  who has a monetized YouTube channel. If you
311.1 -> know someone you can trust, this could  be an option, albeit a very risky one.
316.74 -> Third, if you are pondering over forming a  business company for your YouTube channel,
321.54 -> the time could be now. As you can see, we had  to wait for over 3 weeks to get our problem
327.3 -> solved. If you are earning big bucks from  YouTube ad revenues, this could a problem
333 -> because all this revenue will be foregone. In our  case, it was three weeks. Yes, nothing earned.
340.38 -> Finally, if you are going down our route, you can  do the following. When opening a business account,
346.5 -> consider having someone else under the  contact name. This person should not
351.36 -> have opened any Adsense accounts under  their name in the past. For instance,
355.98 -> if you have a multi-member company, you can  include the other co-owner's name under the
361.56 -> contact name. Doing so may not trigger Google  Adsense rejection for duplicate accounts.
367.5 -> We still do not know for sure what happened.  But our problem got solved thanks to YouTube
372.84 -> chat support who were very friendly and  kept us updated throughout this process.
377.34 -> I hope this video helped you plan your YouTube  monetization strategy. If you got something out
383.22 -> of it, please give it a like and subscribe to  our channel. We regularly post travel guides,
388.86 -> photography tutorials and other useful  tips for YouTubers. Thank you for watching.
