What is Autodesk error 1309 error reading from the file?

This error message would appear during the installation of any Autodesk products like Autocad, Revit, 3dMax etc. The error message will either appear with error code 1309, or it will just say “Error reading from file” without the error code. It will show a path and at the end of the error message it will say: “Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.”

When can you face Autodesk error 1309?

When any Autodesk product user tries to install the product, they can face this error during installation. The installation package comes with several components like Autodesk desktop app, .net framework, material library etc and users can face error 1309 during installation of any of these. Users may face it at any stage of installation.

When clicking on retry, what does Autodesk error 1309 do?

If you will not try both the method shown in this video, and try to click on retry, it will not do anything and will keep showing the same error message but if you will try the solutions shown here then it can solve the error.

How to fix the AutoCAD error 1309? (Method-01)

I will now show you the first method to fix this error.

1) Click on the start menu, then computer, go to local disk C and open Program Files.
2) Right-click on the “Autodesk” folder and go to its properties. Go to the Security tab.
3) Find “Everyone” user from the list.
4) Click on “Edit” if you are unable to find “Everyone” in the list. Click on Add, Advanced and Find Now. Look for “Everyone” and select it. Click on OK and OK again. Now you should be able to see “Everyone” on the list, select it, tick allows under the Full Control option and click on OK.
5) Now go to the Installation window and click on “Retry”. If this solution does not solve the error, try solution 02.

How to solve the AutoCAD error 1309? (Method-02)

Check the path of the Autodesk product installation package or software. In my case, AutoCAD 2013 is the product I want to install and the setup file is in the Downloads folder and its path is given below.

C:\Users\user\Downloads\Software\Autodesk_AutoCAD\Autodesk_AutoCAD_2013\madaboutconstruction.com\Autodesk_AutoCAD_2013_x64\Autodesk_AutoCAD_2013_x64\Autodesk_AutoCAD_2013_x64\Autodesk_AutoCAD_2013_x64\Autodesk_AutoCAD_2013_x64\Autodesk_AutoCAD_2013_x64\Setup

Here you can see the main setup file is in the folder Autodesk_AutoCAD_2013_x64 and its path is too long. So in this case you can copy that whole folder containing the setup file and paste it in C:\Autodesk and try to install your Autodesk product.
