Running Microsoft Office on a Chromebook - How to install Online Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2022

How to install Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on a Chromebook or Chromebox. How to install Microsoft Office ONLINE app on your Chromebook.
The office software is ‘installed’ within your Google account, independent of the hardware. However, the app, Google Docs, reads and saves files in a Word Doc format , if you need that format. Also, Google docs works offline, I use it a great deal on my Chromebook. I do not mean to miss lead anyone. It is just that apps can now be installed and synced within your Google Account. I hope this helps. I have been a Microsoft Office User Specialist instructor for over 20 years and my mission has always been to help and improve the lives of the people I share this world with.

When looking for the “Office” App , do be sure to ONLY use the “Office” App from Microsoft or Live.com. Look again at the Google App Store and, if you do a search for “Office” a number of apps and extensions will show up. Trust only the ones from Microsoft or live.com.

44 -> I said, it's absolutely FREE and once you have that you'll be able to actually log into the

50 -> Microsoft office apps and use those right on your Chromebook so let's get started with the lesson!

65.2 -> now for this lesson I'm going to be using my Acer Chromebook any newer Chromebook will do,

70.08 -> as long as you have access to the Chrome web store or to the play store so go ahead and open

76.16 -> up your Chromebook and then log into your google account hey here I am in the Chromebook now the

81.76 -> very first thing that you want to do once you get the desktop as you see here is go ahead and

85.92 -> click on the App Launcher which is the round icon found in the lower left hand corner of your screen

91.84 -> and once you do that it reveals some apps there if you click on the little carrot it reveals even

96.72 -> more apps or you can do a search we're looking for the web store so we're going to click on

107.04 -> corner there you notice it has a search box key in the word office and once you hit the enter

112.32 -> key will show the results now the very first one that you see there is office and it says office

328.96 -> Microsoft account for you and as you can see there it's easy to get to other apps

341.44 -> so in this first method I've showed you basically involves getting into the chrome web store

346.32 -> downloading the apps there it is totally free you do not need a subscription to 365 to use it

353.04 -> to edit documents so to save documents or to open up old documents that you've created in the past

363.28 -> Chromebook you can actually log in with another Chromebook log back into your Microsoft account

408.4 -> and as such the Android versions do require you to have a Microsoft office 365 subscription (To use all features)

416.32 -> So if you're a student or if you're at a business which you are they already

421.36 -> give you a Microsoft 365 subscription hey guess what you just log into your 365 and

428.32 -> everything's great if you do not have a 365 subscription and stick with the first method

435.2 -> because everything there is free alright so let's get into the second method so in this

442.4 -> next method here what we're going to do is click on the play store at the bottom here click it and

448.16 -> it will open up to the play store now we see Microsoft excel already there but we want to

453.52 -> find other Microsoft apps by clicking up into the search box and then typing in Microsoft office

463.36 -> and then hit enter and there it is so we have word excel and we have other Microsoft office

470.8 -> apps all there let's go ahead and click on one so there's Microsoft word and click on install

477.6 -> and then it will be installing right onto your Chromebook remember this is the android version

482.96 -> so it does have the editing tools there however it does require you to have the subscription to

490.64 -> 365 in order to actually use all of its features now once it's installed you can go ahead and click

496.24 -> on open you will be able to find it in the app launcher as well so if I click on the App Launcher

502.66 -> I'm going to search for a word so I'm going to click in the search box and key in word you notice right away
