How to Fix Mac Not Loading Certain Websites | MacOS Catalina and Below

Hey everyone, today we’re going to be going over the top five ways to fix an issue in Safari on your Mac where certain webpages won’t load. First, we take steps to isolate the problem, including going over steps like disabling your ad-blocker or antivirus software to ensure they aren’t the root of the problem. Then we check for issues with your computer handling things like your IP address, we reset Safari settings to clear data, we check your hosts file, and more. I hope this helps to solve your internet problems on your Mac, but if you have any issues with it, feel free to check the Apple Support link or comment and I’ll reply.

Command: networksetup -setv6off Wi-Fi

0.03 -> Hey everyone Thomas here. Today we're going over how to fix an issue where
3.48 -> your Mac won't load certain websites. We have five different fixes planned for
7.109 -> today so stay tuned. Okay so we're gonna be going over five solutions in detail
15.059 -> so if one doesn't work there are several more to try and I invite you to pause
18.84 -> the video re-watch parts that I may go too fast for you. I apologize in advance for that.
23.029 -> So let's get started, and before we start you should also make sure that your ad
27.72 -> blocker or your antivirus software (Ex. Norton, BitDefender, etc.) that's what's
34.11 -> not causing the problem you can make sure that it's not causing the problem
37.62 -> simply like disabling it and trying to open up a website that you're having
40.98 -> problems with. Okay let's get started. Number one: the first step is to hit the
47.55 -> Apple logo(top left corner) then hit system preferences and once it opens up click on network.
52.25 -> Now in the Wi-Fi tab(left tab) click on advanced and now we need to check for a few
57.48 -> things. One, make sure configure ipv6 is set as off. Next we're going to renew the
65.909 -> DHCP lease to simply reset your connection to the network. Now click on
70.89 -> the hardware tab and make sure configure is set to automatically. Ok if that didn't
77.79 -> work for you let's move on to the second method. Number two open terminal and in terminal
82.92 -> run the following command networksetup - setv6off Wi-Fi. Now keep in mind it's
91.799 -> also in the description for you to copy and paste which I recommend you doing
95.189 -> because if you make a typo it will not work. This command should override any
99.93 -> settings that are interfering with your ipv6 being set to OFF. So if that didn't
106.11 -> work for you then let's move on to number three. Okay
108.93 -> now this method is a bit more complicated. In the menu bar for finder
112.829 -> you're gonna tap go in the top and once you tap go it'll open up a
117.78 -> drop-down being a tap on go to folder an alternative to doing all of this is just
123.54 -> typing in the following command: command+shift+G Anyways it will open up a window
130.41 -> where you'll type in /etc/hosts. Now open the host file with TextEdit
137.73 -> and I invite you to pause the video now to make sure everything looks exactly
141.09 -> like mine. If it doesn't look like mine then click the video in the description
145.29 -> titled "hosts fix" because this is a bit more complicated and is probably your issue.
149.88 -> Okay number four. So for this we're basically going to clear our safari data
157.79 -> so open up Safari and click Safari at the top now click preferences
166.34 -> now click the privacy tab and click "manage website data". Click "remove all" at
172.95 -> the bottom once it loads and then once you see the pop up just click on" remove
177.63 -> now". Now that will clear all of your Safari data and may fix the problem so
184.17 -> finally if that doesn't fix it, we have number 5. So for this final fix we're
190.38 -> going to make sure all of your web proxies are shut off so click the Apple
194.549 -> logo and click system preferences then click Network and open the Wi-Fi tab
200.63 -> click advanced and open the proxies tab make sure everything under select a
207.03 -> protocol to configure is unchecked. Ok everyone
212.94 -> that's it basically for today if none of these fixes work for you I included an
217.5 -> apple link in the description for you to get help from them or you can also
221.609 -> comment what your issue is and maybe you'll require more specialized fix but
226.2 -> I do reply to comments and I try to help you. So thanks so much for watching if
230.25 -> this did help you then please do leave a like or comment or subscribe any of that
235.079 -> it just means so much thanks so much bye.
