5.12 -> All right guys, welcome back to another tutorial.
Today, I'll be showing you how you can upgrade
8.64 -> your existing mob farm so that it produces a whole
lot more mobs. I'll show you how to add layers,
13.52 -> completely erase spider spawns, and also make sure
that all mobs arrive down at the bottom without
18.48 -> dying this will help you get the maximum amount of
xp. So with that being said, I'm going to switch
22.16 -> over to creative and show you the upgrades I
did to this farm. So over here we can see the
26.4 -> original farm design and this is the upgraded
one. As you can see it's got one more layer,
30.4 -> which allows us to produce loads more mobs, and
also a few other modifications which I'll show. So
34.56 -> the materials you need to make these modifications
are in this chest. These materials over here are
38.4 -> in exact quantities. You also require some torches
and approximately 11 stacks of solid blocks of
43.12 -> your choice. You can use any block as long as it
is a solid block. I'm using spruce planks because
48 -> I said wood is easy to get in the early game.
That doesn't necessarily mean you have to build
51.28 -> it out of spruce planks. You can build it out of
cobblestone or whatever. The material list will be
54.56 -> in the description, so check that out. So instead
of breaking open the chest, I'm going to carefully
58.48 -> grab all these materials, and we can begin our
modifications. So first we need to add a little
62.56 -> barrier right here so any mobs that fall will
fall onto this little buffer area right here. Now
66.88 -> also add a little shelter because phantoms could
perhaps have got you while you're standing here.
71.12 -> Now to sort out the issue that mobs were dying
from impact, we have to go up into this area of
76.4 -> the farm. I'm just going to break in through the
top. The simplest way to solve this issue is to
79.84 -> place vines like so. However, as you can see that
skeleton was just standing there on that block,
85.92 -> so another modification you could have done is
just swap out these blocks for stairs. Now this
89.84 -> will make it easier for the mobs to just fall
straight through. Now what this means is we have
94.16 -> to block up this area because that allows light to
come in. So now I'm on the outside and we can just
97.92 -> block them off with solid blocks. Also another
issue is that the vines are growing downwards
102.24 -> which means the mobs can just possibly hang down
here and when they do drop they'll be on slightly
106.16 -> more health because they would have dropped
slightly fewer blocks. To resolve that we can
109.2 -> just break these vines and place some signs and
what that will do is prevent the vines from just
113.44 -> growing down. So now this area should look like
this. As you could probably see that spider was
116.88 -> being a bit of a menace. He's just always getting
in the way and other spiders like this wander over
120.8 -> to the corners and will reduce the rates of your
farm and I got tons of comments telling me this
124.64 -> in my previous video. As you can see I only used
four trapdoors in each platform. The way you can
128.88 -> completely remove spider spawns is using slightly
more trapdoors and placing them as shown. First
133.76 -> break all the trapdoors and from the corner
count out one block diagonally and place the
137.92 -> trapdoor like so. Then count two blocks to the
side and one block down then place the trapdoor.
142.64 -> Continue that until you reach the edge of
the platform. Then once you reach the edge,
146.08 -> count two blocks down and one block to the side
and do the same like so. So you have this sort
150.08 -> of checkerboard pattern, but these two by two
areas will allow other mobs to spawn. So you
154.32 -> can continue that and I will put a diagram
in the video just to make it a little bit
157.76 -> clearer. And in total, you should have 12 trap
doors like so. Repeat this on all platforms.
168.4 -> And finally you can kill away these nasty spiders.
So all together this modification requires 48 trap
173.92 -> doors, because you got 12 on each platform.
Occasionally, mobs will get stuck like so,
177.52 -> but when other mobs spawn, they will naturally
just push the other mobs and just fall in like so,
181.2 -> so that's nothing to worry about. Next, we got the
issue of light coming through on Bedrock edition.
186.08 -> When it's daytime, and I need to remove my night
vision for this, you can see that some light
190.24 -> seeps through into the farm. On Java edition you
can see that the client light level is completely
194.96 -> 0 so mobs can spawn on java. But if you're on
bedrock edition the client light will be changed
199.76 -> and that is caused by these slabs. Also if you're
planning on adding other layers you'll need to
204.08 -> completely remove these slabs as well. I'm just
going to do it using a command and we're going
207.36 -> to fill them in with spruce planks or any other
solid blocks. So as you can see, all of this is
211.2 -> now filled in with spruce planks. That means on
Bedrock, your mobs can officially spawn in these
215.44 -> corners right here. Also what we're gonna do
is line these edges with solid blocks like so.
222.88 -> If you want to add another layer to your
farm, dig out the four blocks where your
225.92 -> drop shoot is. Make the walls two
blocks high using solid blocks.
234.88 -> Once you got your walls in, dig out the
area directly above these water trenches.
242.24 -> And replicate the trapdoor placement that you did
244.48 -> on the bottom floor on the top floor as
well, including these side trapdoors.
251.68 -> Then finally once you got your trapdoors in,
you can add a roof to it, which I'm going to
255.12 -> do by using some commands. There we go we've got
a roof in and our mob farm is now double-tiered.
260.72 -> Basically the farm works the same way: the mob
spawn, they think these blocks are solid blocks,
264.24 -> and they'll just fall through into the water.
And then last but not least, we need to add
267.36 -> torches to the top of the farm, to make sure that
mobs can't spawn up here. Make sure to add some
271.04 -> torches up over here because this area is solid
blocks as well. And I almost forgot, all the mobs
275.44 -> are now falling onto this block here so make
sure you remove these buffer blocks. First I'm
280.56 -> gonna kill all these mobs and I'm gonna show just
how much xp you get. Now all the xp has finished,
285.28 -> and now I'm just gonna set my xp level to 8.
So now my xp is completely 8 as you can see.
295.36 -> So there we go i was afk for around a
minute and let's see how much xp we get.
301.92 -> So I went from 8 levels to 16 levels. Now
this doesn't necessarily mean that in one
306 -> minute you'll go from 30 levels to 60 levels,
because you'll require more experience to level
310.08 -> up the more levels you have. Also, as you can
see none of them, when they fall are dying,
313.44 -> which is absolutely great. This is mainly due
to the vines that we placed. This farm is much
317.12 -> more efficient than any spawner farm that you
can build. It's a bit more early-game as well,
321.2 -> because you don't need a spawner you can just
build this in the sky. The most materials that
325.2 -> you'll ever need is some iron for the hoppers
and the rest of it is basically made out of wood.
334.08 -> If you're seeing this subtitle, goooood byeee! :D
(unless you sub :)
