WordPress Tutorial | How to fix WooCommerce password reset email not sending
Step-by-step tutorial on how to fix the WooCommerce password reset email not sending with no code and no plugin.
đź”»
For some reason, WordPress sometimes stops sending WooCommerce password reset emails to users. I tried to find a solution for this online, but everything seemed too complicated. The solutions I found required more plugins or some code and I am not a programmer. I rely on Elementor page builder to build my pages. It took me some time to get to this one but it’s so simple that it’s definitely worth a try. I hope it works for you too.
All the best,

2.4 -> Hi, everyone! I’m Joana from up2dateSKILLS.
For some reason WordPress wasn't sending Â
7.92 -> WooCommerce password reset emails to users,Â
not even to their spam folders! In my case, Â
13.86 -> this was the only email that wasn’t being sent.Â
I tried to find a solution for this online, Â
19.62 -> but everything seemed too complicated for me.Â
The solutions I found required more plugins Â
25.8 -> or some code and I am not a programmer. I rely onÂ
Elementor page builder to build my pages. There’s Â
33.24 -> an affiliate link in the description below.
I always try to find solutions that don’t Â
38.1 -> require code or additional plugins.Â
It took me some time to get to this, Â
42.84 -> but it’s so simple that it’s definitelyÂ
worth a try. I hope it works for you too.
Â
48.48 -> I am going to share two different browsers withÂ
you so that you can see what I am doing as an Â
54.18 -> Admin in a WordPress dashboard and then IÂ
am going to use a different browser for a Â
60.54 -> Test User. This way, I can be logged in atÂ
the same time with two different accounts Â
66.12 -> and you can see exactly what happens onÂ
both ends, as an Admin and an End User.
Â
72.84 -> I’ll be sharing an Admin WordPressÂ
dashboard in Google Chrome and a Â
77.88 -> User Account page in MicrosoftÂ
Edge. I suggest you do the same, Â
82.38 -> so that you don’t have to logout from yourÂ
Admin account to check if it’s working.
Â
87 -> Let me show what the Users sawÂ
before I fixed the problem.
Â
92.16 -> This is my homepage. To login, users can go toÂ
“My Account” and if they forget their password, Â
99.96 -> they can click this link down here with theÂ
question “Lost your password?” I suppose you have Â
106.02 -> the same link because I haven’t changed this. ThisÂ
section here is part of the default WooCommerce Â
112.2 -> login page. I just changed this part up here.
Let me click here. So before fixing the problem, Â
121.5 -> the users would be able to click the link andÂ
they would be taken to the reset link page;Â Â
127.26 -> they would be able to insert their username orÂ
their email address and when they clicked this Â
133.14 -> button here, Reset password, they would evenÂ
get this message here “Password reset email Â
141.42 -> has been sent.” The problem is, as an Admin, IÂ
would get an email letting me know someone was Â
147.24 -> trying to reset their password, but the usersÂ
never got the email with the reset link.
Â
152.22 -> Now, let’s go to a WordPress Admin dashboardÂ
to show you what I have done to fix this.
Â
159.54 -> In your WordPress Admin dashboard,Â
click WooCommerce, go to Settings. Â
169.08 -> Then choose this tab here Advanced. Â
174.12 -> Scroll down and, under the section AccountÂ
endpoints, look for the field Lost password Â
185.4 -> and delete the text from the text field or cutÂ
it because you’re going to need it in a bit. Â
191.34 -> Anyway, just leave this field empty for now.Â
Don't forget to click the button Save changes.
Â
198.42 -> Now your settings have been changed.Â
This doesn't fix it just yet, Â
203.7 -> but let me show you something. If you goÂ
to your login page again, go to My account. Â
212.34 -> I’m going to follow the steps I’ve just followedÂ
before, so if I click my Lost your password link, Â
219.9 -> you will get this error message, a 404Â
Error message saying the page doesn’t exist. Â
226.5 -> Don't worry, I got it too. Then, I justÂ
went back to my WooCommerce settings and Â
234.18 -> scrolled down again and under the section AccountÂ
endpoints, I went back to the Lost password field Â
241.14 -> and I pasted the lost-password text back intoÂ
the Lost password field and hit Save changes. Â
253.86 -> It was that simple. It just started workingÂ
again and I can show you that it's working now.
Â
258.9 -> So let me go back to My account page. Let meÂ
just close this one. Go back to My account. Â
266.7 -> I’m going to click the Lost your password link. Â
272.64 -> I’m going to click the Reset password. IÂ
still get the message just like I did before:Â Â
280.74 -> Password reset email has been sent. So far,Â
it’s the same. But this time, when I go to my Â
289.2 -> email, not my email as an admin, I mean myÂ
Test User email, the e-mail is actually there. Â
300.54 -> I can open it and this linkÂ
here is actually working.
Â
303.96 -> Because I am logged in as an Admin, I’mÂ
just going to copy it and paste it in a Â
312 -> different browser so that I don’t have to logÂ
out and you can see what is going to happen. Â
319.8 -> Now you can see these two fields here to entreÂ
a new password and to confirm the new password Â
326.46 -> you have chosen and this didn’t happen before.
From what I have read online I know some people Â
333.06 -> might be having more complex problems, butÂ
if you haven't tried this option before, Â
337.08 -> I strongly suggest you do before moving on to moreÂ
complex steps. Well, I hope it works for you.
Â
344.46 -> Well, I guess this is it. Thanks for watching.
